About us
Fashion advice from people who've done the job
Pearlthread was founded in 2026 by former magazine editors and retail buyers who kept answering the same question from friends: "Can you just tell me what to buy?" We can — and we do, with a testing protocol instead of a press release.
Our editorial independence
We earn money through affiliate commissions — when you buy through our links, retailers pay us a small percentage at no cost to you. Retailers never pay for placement, never see articles before publication, and never influence rankings. Products are purchased at retail by our editors; gifted items are disclosed and can never earn a positive review by default.
The testing protocol
Every reviewed product survives a minimum two-week wear test: at least six full-day wears, two wash cycles where applicable, and scoring across comfort, quality, fit accuracy and cost-per-wear. Roughly one in four products we test earns a recommendation. The rest go back — or into our "skip it" notes.
Corrections
We update guides as products change, prices move and long-term wear reveals flaws. Each article shows its last-updated date. Spot an error? Email hello@pearlthread.com — corrections are made within 48 hours and noted in the article.
The team
Emma Carter
Editor-in-Chief
Emma spent a decade styling editorial shoots in New York and London before founding Pearlthread. She believes great style is a system, not a shopping habit — and that the best outfit is the one you don't have to think about.
- ✓ 10+ years in fashion editorial (NY & London)
- ✓ Certified image consultant, AICI
- ✓ Personally road-tests every reviewed product for 2+ weeks
Sophia Reyes
Senior Style Writer
Sophia covers seasonal trends and occasion dressing. A former buyer for a UK high-street retailer, she reads a trend report the way other people read horoscopes — and then tells you which third of it is actually worth your money.
- ✓ Former high-street fashion buyer
- ✓ Specialist in petite & midlife fit
- ✓ Writes the site's seasonal trend briefings
Maya Lindqvist
Reviews Editor
Maya runs the testing desk. Every sneaker, sweater and tote that earns a recommendation has survived her two-week wear test, three washes and one very judgmental commute. If it pills, she says so.
- ✓ Leads the 2-week product testing protocol
- ✓ Textile science background
- ✓ Keeper of the returns spreadsheet
